With a population of around five thousand, Anamosa, Iowa is a modest midwestern farming town that would go largely unnoticed were it not the birthplace of one of the most successful aftermarket motorcycle parts retailers in the nation, J&P Cycles. And this year, marked the 30th anniversary of J&P’s founding, celebrated at their annual open house that took place at their headquarters this past weekend.

To mark this impressive milestone, J&P extended its traditional one-day open house event to a full weekend, which turned out to be a smart decision, as enthusiastic crowds poured in from all over the America’s heartland on both Saturday and Sunday to enjoy all the time-honored J&P festivities like their motorcycle rodeo and ride-in bike show.

Not to be overshadowed by the entertainment, the J&P Open House is, of course, a great opportunity to pick up some new parts for your motorcycle. On the vendor side, Vance & Hines has been bringing its Show Truck to the Open House since 2006, but this year took it a step further partnering with J&P to do installs for customers purchasing Vance & Hines exhaust systems, Fuelpak and VO2 air intakes.

With scores of wide-open roads, the Midwest is touring bike country. So as expected, Vance & Hines Power Duals and Dresser Duals head pipes along with slip-on mufflers like Monster Ovals were the hottest sellers over the weekend. Together, they draw out a healthy boost in power for touring bikes while yielding a mellow baritone sound that’s just right for long distance riding.

Next up, the Vance & Hines Show Truck makes its way to Long Beach, California for the LA Calendar Motorcycle Show at the scenic Queen Mary Park. The LA Calendar Show features many of todays most cutting-edge custom bike builders like Roland Sands, along with tons of live music and entertainment. The LA Calendar Motorcycle Show takes place on July 18 and 19.
