VANCE & HINES AT LA CALENDAR MOTORCYCLE SHOW

SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA 7/20/09

The 18th annual Los Angeles Calendar Motorcycle Show took place last weekend at the Queen Mary Park in Long Beach, California, offering locals a glimpse into the creative world of custom motorcycle builders. Embracing the diversity among motorcycle enthusiasts, it’s one of the few shows where you will find custom built cruisers side-by-side with custom built sportbikes.

The Queen Mary Park provides one of the best venues for capturing the culture of Southern California. Situated on a peninsula wrapping around the Long Beach harbor, the park gives you great views of the marina, the downtown Long Beach skyline, one of the biggest seaports on the westcoast, and of course, the Pacific Ocean.

The highlight of the weekend was the Calendar Show Bike Building Championship, which took place on Sunday. With a category for just about every type of two-wheeled machine imaginable, the vendor aisleways became a showcase for some of the trickest customs you’ll find at any bike contest around the country.

The wide spectrum of styles the Calendar Show appeals to also provided a good opportunity for Vance & Hines to showcase its wide range of exhaust systems, from the Power Duals headers and Monster Oval Slip-ons for Harley Touring bikes to the new CS-One designs for sportbikes. And for those inspired by the custom bikes on display, Vance & Hines also displayed its RSD Tracker 2-into-1 styled by custom builder Roland Sands.

Next up on the event calendar is the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Taking place all across the Black Hills of South Dakota, Vance & Hines will have its show trucks setup at two locations; Black Hills Harley-Davidson in Rapid City and J&P Cycles in downtown Sturgis. Customers will be able to purchase Vance & Hines exhaust systems, VO2 air intakes and Fuelpak fuel management systems through Black Hills Harley or J&P, and then get the parts installed right there on their lots while they wait. The Sturgis Rally begins on July 29 and runs through August 8.
