CNC PROGRAMMER

Vance & Hines, a leader in the motorcycle aftermarket industry and recognized for quality performance exhaust systems, is in search of an CNC Programmer to become part of our Engineering Department.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for determining the sequence of machining operations and choosing the cutting tools as needed; analyzes solid models, drawings, and other data to perform all necessary steps in programming; writes new programs or modifies existing programs and stores them on the machine’s controller; and after programming, may ensure that the machines and programs operate correctly and that components meet design specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan programming by studying engineering drawings, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters
• Design support tooling
• Program CNC laser prototypes and production programs
• Track and record projects
• Robot welder programming
• Laser etcher Programming
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations
• Efficiently and effectively manage time

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Attention to detail
• Good math skills
• Ability to work with 3D solid models
• Create and read 2D CAD drawings
• Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
• In-depth knowledge of measuring equipment
• Metallurgy knowledge and application
• Good organizational skills
• Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and professional manner
• Computer operating systems, OSX and Microsoft Windows
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
• 2D CAD
• SurfCam CAD/CAM software
• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach and move about the facility
• Must have the ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds
• Must have the ability to function as part of a team
• Must have the ability to listen to and follow written and verbal instruction
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively with Team Members and Supervisors

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Associate’s Degree

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

Reports to: Engineering Manager

INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:

• May interact with and receive direction daily from Department Lead Person and/or Team Lead
• Will interact with departmental personnel
• May interact with multiple departments and personnel, including: Engineers, Tool & Die Engineer, R&D, Machine Shop, Production

• The performance of this position normally requires exposure to typical manufacturing areas where under certain conditions, use of personal protective equipment is required
