Embedded Systems Design Engineer – Level I

Vance & Hines, a leader in the motorcycle aftermarket industry and recognized for quality performance exhaust systems, is in search of an R&D Supervisor to become part of our R&D Department.

This position is responsible for designing, developing, debugging, and modifying embedded systems. This engineer analyzes the system requirements, breaking the tasks into hardware and software components, designing circuits, printed circuit boards, as well as writing firmware and software. Duties also include the circuit design and writing of scripting software to perform bench testing of new hardware/firmware.

Key Responsibilities

• New product development – circuit schematic design, PCB design/layout
• Authorship of firmware in embedded C, objective-C, assembly
• New product testing – design dedicated hardware, write firmware, create software tools to control and report the results, documentation
• Authorship of software in Python or other appropriate language
• Document projects – write specifications, document procedures, version control, BOM
• Maintain current product – update component selection for better cost or to combat obsolescence
• Other miscellaneous tasks as required (such as assisting maintenance personnel with diagnosing machine electronics, designing controls for custom production equipment)
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations
• Efficiently and effectively manage time

Education and/or Experience Requirements

• B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 2-3 or more years of related experience.
