How much experience do you have riding an XR1200?
A little bit in the parking lot is all that I have done.
What do you think of spec racing?
I think its great. I am looking forward to the close racing this class provides. It’s a good way to make it all fair and its up to the rider.
What made you decide to race the Vance & Hines XR1200 Series?
My family has a long history with H-D, my dad was a factory H-D rider.
What do you think of the Vance & Hines XR1200 Series?
I think it awesome. It’s really great to see Harley Davidson have a presence and have the rebutable name Vance & Hines involved. The series brings a whole other side of racing which I think is really great.
What’s your typical pre-race meal?
I try to find an Italian restaurant close to the track!
What is your pre-race OCD behavior?
I do some jumping-jacks to get the blood flowing and I usually just close my eyes and try to visualize the race in my head.
What is one of your best racing memories?
Traveling the country racing the amateur dirt track series with my Dad and my brother.
What motivated you to get started racing?
My family has been a Harley-Davidson dealer since 1947. My grandfather raced and promoted scrambles events. My father, Greg Sassaman was a Harley-Davidson factory dirt track and road race team rider in the 1970′s. Ever since I was a little kid I’ve been drawn to racing. It’s in my blood. It’s part of who I am.
What would you be doing if you weren’t a professional motorcycle racer?
When I’m not racing I’m the Service Manager at Harley-Davidson of Macon.
