Born and bred in one of flat track’s hotbeds in Flint, Michigan, Bryan Smith was hooked on the sport early. He started racing BMX at the age of six but quickly moved into the ice racing and flat track ranks and never looked back. After a very successful amateur career and numerous amateur national championships, he moved up into the AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship level in 2001. Smith quickly gained recognition, earning rookie of the year honors his freshman season.
Winning on four different brands, Smith has established himself as one of the top riders in the modern era. He was the first gold medal winner at the debut X Games Harley-Davidson Flat Track event in 2015. The “Mile Master” went on to fulfill his lifelong dream of winning the Grand National Championship in 2016. Smith currently sits ninth on the all-time win list with 33 Grand National wins, 25 of which are on the Mile tracks, putting him fourth on the all-time Mile-win list topped by fellow Michigan native, and Harley Davidson rider, Scott Parker.
